SOS Racismo is a community based organisation in which everyone has the same rights and obligations. Each person carries out the activities in the field that they have chosen. It is a non-profit anti-racist organisation, multi-ethnic, democratic, forward looking with an international focus.
The members assembly is held annually in which the action plan and the budget is discussed for the year ahead. The director's board is also chosen, made up of the President, The Secretary, The Treasurer and 6 board members. The different work groups in each province meet on a monthly basis in order to coordinate their activities. Communication is done electronically and there is a monthly news bulletin. Given its 18 year history and the range of activities which it has developed over this period SOS Racismo has a solid structure and a wide network of collaborators. The work done by SOS Racismo has been recognised by many different organisations not just in the province of Gipuzkoa but outside its boundaries as well. It boasts a strong, well organised and well trained team made up of eight individuals (6 women and two men) all working to the best of their abilities.
It is financed by donations from its members, private donations and most importantly of all by projects which receive institutional backing from a wide range of institutions: The Basque Government, The County Council, Town Halls, Central Government and The European Union. Moreover, since 2008 we have an working agreement with Gipuzkoa County Council related to The Information and Complaint Centre where immigrants and ethnic minorities can both denounce racist acts as well as receive information and answers to their enquiries.
